PREWAR LIONEL 262 STEAMER WITH 262T TENDER

Lionel offered the 262 only from 1931 - 1932, although the e-unit equipped 262E was available through 1936.

This beautiful example is a Type I, with gloss black paint. It has a reversing lever in the cab.

It runs well both forward and reverse. The light works.

The locomotive is really gorgeous, I would rate it around VG+ to EX-. There is a bit of oxidation, mostly on a couple of the smaller wheels. The paint is very nice with a few nicks on the pilot (cow catcher). The pilot is solid and complete. It appears to be all original, with the exception of the flags, which are reproductions. The only real issue I see is it is missing one of the green pilot lights. The paint is very nice and no repaint or touch ups that I see. A really nice example. The tender is not quite as nice, with some paint loss. The coal load is a reproduction. It has an orange stripe.
